The Emotion Code

Emotion Code vs Body Code: Which Is Right for You?

10 September 2025 3 min read

Two of the most common questions I receive are: "What is the difference between the Emotion Code and the Body Code?" and "Which one should I start with?" These are good questions, and the answers are simpler than they might seem.

Both modalities were developed by Dr Bradley Nelson and are offered through Discover Healing. Both use muscle testing to communicate with the body's subconscious intelligence. Both can produce significant shifts. The difference is in scope.

The short answer

The Emotion Code works specifically with trapped emotions: energetic charges lodged in the body from experiences that were not fully processed at the time. The Body Code is a complete healing system that includes the Emotion Code as one of its six categories, and addresses the whole person: energetic, physical, nutritional, structural, and more.

One is a chapter. The other is the book.

The Emotion Code

Emotional clarity and release

  • Trapped emotions, including the Heart-Wall
  • Inherited and absorbed emotional energies
  • Best for emotional patterns, relationship blocks, unexplained weight
  • 45 to 60 minutes per session
  • Ideal as an entry point or standalone focus

The Body Code

Whole-person rebalancing

  • Everything the Emotion Code addresses, plus five more categories
  • Physical systems, structural alignment, toxins, pathogens, nutrition
  • Best for complex or multi-layered situations
  • 60 minutes per session
  • Ideal for physical symptoms alongside emotional patterns

What the Emotion Code does

The Emotion Code focuses on identifying and releasing trapped emotions, including the Heart-Wall. It is precise, relatively contained, and extraordinarily effective for the emotional layer of healing.

It is a particularly good starting point for people whose primary experience of being stuck is emotional: patterns in relationships, recurring anxiety or sadness, low self-worth, difficulty with love and connection, or a sense of unexplained weight. Many clients start here and find it provides exactly what they need.

What the Body Code does

The Body Code addresses everything the Emotion Code does, and then extends into the physical body's systems, structural alignment, toxins, pathogens, and nutritional and lifestyle balance. It uses the same muscle testing foundation but follows a much wider map, navigating through six categories of imbalance rather than one.

It is particularly well suited to people dealing with physical complaints alongside emotional patterns, or those who have been doing Emotion Code work and want to go deeper into the full picture of their system. The Body Code does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. What it does is work with the energetic information the body is holding about its own imbalances and support the conditions for rebalancing.

Which should you choose?

A simple guide:

  • If your primary concern is emotional: patterns, relationship blocks, grief, anxiety, or the sense of carrying something you cannot put down, start with the Emotion Code or a dedicated Heart-Wall clearing session.
  • If you are dealing with physical complaints alongside emotional issues, or if you want a comprehensive approach that addresses more than one layer at a time, the Body Code is likely the better fit.
  • If you have been working through the Emotion Code for a while and want to go further, the Body Code is a natural next step.
  • If you are not sure: book a session. I work intuitively and will use whatever your body is asking for on the day. You do not need to arrive with a plan.

How I work with both

As a certified Emotion Code and Body Code practitioner trained through Discover Healing, I am equipped to use both modalities in any given session. In practice, sessions often begin with emotional clearing and naturally move into Body Code territory as the session unfolds, because the body does not always stay neatly within one category.

The work is guided by the body itself through muscle testing. I follow what is presenting, not a fixed agenda. What your body needs in this session is what we will address, regardless of which modality the label belongs to.

The most important thing is to begin. Everything else the body will show us.

Not sure where to start? That is fine.
